Spiritual Director's On-Going Formation
"Transforming Our Painful Emotions"
Our focus is on the negative feelings of anger, fear, guilt, shame, loneliness and grief.
"What do we mean by negative emotions? Some emotions make us feel wretched. Anger's racing pulse sets us on edge. Shame taunts us with messages of our unworthiness. Guilt's recriminations preoccupy and dishearten us. Grief drains delight from our life."
Based on the work of Evelyn and James Whitehead entitled Transforming Our Painful Emotions we will challenge each other to walk our personal path through our own story. Last year we used the story of "Inside Out" to begin the journey, now we will continue to challenge our stories and walk closer to personal inner freedom.
For those who register for this on-going program for spiritual directors the book will be provided.
Third Tuesday: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Third Wednesday: 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
First Thursday: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm or 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Second Friday: 10:00 am - 11:30 am
We gather in a contemplative atmosphere as we continue to gain personal insight and the inner freedom necessary to listen to another's story. As men and women of prayer ourselves, the experience of peer supervision and support empowers us to more clearly walk in the footsteps of Jesus as we companion others. The peer group supervision session is an experience of God as well as a significant learning experience.
