  PRESENTERS



Beth Baker has been in Church Ministry for over thirty years.  She is the Director of the Cursillo for Women.  For the past eight years Beth has been involved with Religious Education and Youth Ministry.  She is certified as a Spiritual Director and a Director of the 19th Annotation Retreat of the Spiritual Exercises.  Presently, Beth is the Associate Director of St. Joseph Renewal Center.


Sue Chester is active in her parish as a Lector and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.  She is a graduate of the Pastoral Formation Program in the Rockville Centre Diocese, NY and she has completed a three year training program in the Art of Spiritual Direction, as a spiritual director at St. Joseph Renewal Center, Brentwood, NY.  Sue is a Staff Associate at the Cenacle Retreat Center in Ronkonkoma, NY.


Judith Coste holds a BSN from SUNY Stony Brook and her RN from Pennsylvania Hospital of Nursing.  Judy's career as a nurse was spent in the operating room as a surgical nurse-educator until retirement.  Along with over twenty five years of nursing experience, Judy is a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and has shared her creative talents as a member of the parish retreat planning committee.  She graduated from a three year training program in the Art of Spiritual Direction, as well as training in giving the 19th Annotation Retreat of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.  She has completed formal training in Supervision of Spiritual Directors.  Judy is a team member of the Women's Spirituality Retreat.


Josephine Daspro, CSJ, D.Min.
Director of St. Joseph Renewal Center, Brentwood, NY has worked in education, in parish ministry, as a Director of Religious Education and as the Director of Spirituality and Adult Formation.  Holds a Doc. of Ministry degree in the are of Spirituality and Suffering, from Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC.  Sister Josephine has given spirituality retreats for men and women and has extensive experience as a Spiritual Director and Supervisor, and is the Director of a Three Year Training Program in the Art of Spiritual Direction.   She has trained experienced spiritual directors to give the 19th Annotation Retreat of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius as well as training experienced spiritual directors in becoming supervisors.

Georgeann Dau hold a PH.D. in Trans-personal Depth Psycho-analytical Psychology, a D.Sc. in Natural Health Sciences.  She is a certified Meyers Briggs instructor and executed this psychological profiling program as part of the Pastoral Formation Institute of which she is a graduate.  She is a certified Spiritual Director and serves as an instructor for the Spiritual Direction Program at St. Joseph's Renewal Center.  Georgeann is the owner of Body naturals, a clinic focusing on a holistic approach towards wellness where she see patients psychoanalysis and spiritual direction.


Margie Demshock is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Bereavement Specialist who helps people cope with all types of loss and change.  She has maintained a private counseling practice for the past 31 years.  She received training int he Art of Spiritual Direction at St. Joseph Renewal Center, Brentwood, NY and was commissioned as a Spiritual Director in may 2004.


Michael Dunne is a graduate of the Pastoral Formation Institute, Rockville Centre, NY and has completed a third year track in Liturgy.  Michael coordinates the monthly Men 2 Men gathering as well as the annual Man Matters Retreat at St. Joseph Renewal Center, Brentwood, NY.  He is the Northeast coordinator of Illuman, previously the men's work arm of Center, of Action and Contemplation founded by Richard Rohr, OFM in Albuquerque, New Mexico known as MALEs.  Michael is a cantor and EM at Our lady of Lourdes, West Islip.  He is a certified Spiritual Director and Supervisor as well as a director of the 19th Annotation Retreat of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.  Michael and his wife Valerie have a blended family of the adult children and six grandchildren. 


Valerie Dunne is a certified Spiritual Director.  She is experienced in directing the 19th Annotation Retreat of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.  Valerie is also trained as a Supervisor of Spiritual Directors and as a Director of directed retreats.  She is a graduate of the Pastoral Formation Institute in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, NY.  Valerie and her husband Michael are involved in ministry to married couples and are members of St. Louis de Montfort parish in Sound beach and live in Ridge, NY.  They are proud grandparents of six active grandchildren ranging in ages 2-11 years.


Suzanne LePre, RSM holds a Masters degree from Fordham University, Bronx, NY in Religious Studies.  Has worked in education, in parish ministry as a Director of Religious Education and as a Pastoral Associate.  Sister Suzanne is certified as a Spiritual Director and as a Supervisor of Spiritual Directors.  She directs the 19th Annotation Retreat of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.  She is a team member of the Women's Spirituality Retreat.  Presently is the Life Coordinator for her community 's assisted living residence at Mercy Convent, in Whitestone, NY. 


Jean Lynch has an MA in Theology from St Johns University, an advanced certificate in Spirituality from the seminary of the immaculate Conception, Huntington, NY.  She is both a Spiritual Director and a Supervisor of Spiritual Directors and is certified in Spirituality from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, NY.  She is both a spiritual Director and a Supervisor of Spiritual Directors and is certified in Inner Healing Prayer and Mandala Assessment through the National Institute of Inner Healing.   A wife, mother and grandmother, she is a former member of the Religious Studies Department in The Mary Louis Academy, Jamaica Estates, NY and has served as a member of the faculty of the Pastoral Formation Institute, Rockville Centre, NY.  She is a facilitator of retreats and workshops designed to provide healing through prayer and reflection for over twenty-five years.


Marie Mackey, CSJ has ministered int he Brooklyn Diocese for over 30 years teaching high school English and Religion at Bishop Kearney HS, St. Francis Prep and the Mary Louis Academy as well as an instructor in the Lay Ecclesial Ministry Program.  Marie has experience in on-going religious formation of catechists.  Steeped int he Christian Awakening, Crossroads, Notre Dame Vision and Charis Retreat Programs.  She is a graduate of the Spiritual Direction Program at Boston College's School of theology and Ministry.  Presently, Marie serves as a Director for Young Adult Ministry and Vocation Discernment for the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood, NY.


Lyn Quinn is a graduate of the Pastoral Formation Program, in Rockville Centre Diocese, NY and has completed a three year training program in the Art of Spiritual Direction, as a spiritual director.  Lyn has been facilitation M.O.M.S. groups at her parish as well as bring the experience to other parishes for 17 years.  She is a Staff Associate at the Cenacle Retreat Center, Ronkonkoma, NY.


Joan Vessio is retired from career with the Brooklyn Union Gas Company.  Joan is certified as a Spiritual Director and as a Supervisor of Spiritual Directors.  She directs the 19th Annotation Retreat of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.  Joan is a co-coordinator of the Women Gather Group here at St. Joseph Renewal Center.  She is a team member of the Women's Spirituality Retreat.
